Upcoming Movies for 2007by Carey Bunker | More from this Blogger 09 Jan 2007 01:25 PM There are a slew of upcoming movies that look promising for family viewing. Please bear in mind that these aren't reviews so not all movies mentioned may be appropriate for everyone, and some will be most suitable for young teens and up. The first upcoming movie is "Arthur and the Invisibles which stars Freddie Highmore (from the newest incarnation of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"), Mia Farrow and the voices of Madonna, David Bowie and Snoop Dogg. It is the story of a young boy who journeys into a magical world in hopes of saving his family's home. It is doing so well overseas that they are already planning two sequels to be released in 2009 and 2010. While most reviews I've read haven't been stellar, I'm still planning on seeing in the next couple of weeks. It opens January 12th, 2007. The second movie of note is called "The Last Mimzy," which is the story of two children who start displaying genius and special abilities after playing with a box of toys. It is supposedly based on a short story by Henry Kuttner called "All Mimsy Were the Borogroves." It is probably the first movie in a long time that I'm super-excited to see. It has been rated PG for some language, mild peril and some thematic elements. Also coming out this year (finally) is "Shrek the Third" in which the titular hero must bring Fiona's cousin back to Far Far Away so that he, Fiona and Donkey can return to the swamp and start their "happily ever after." If it's as any good as the first two, then it will probably be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. For older children, teens and their families: "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Spiderman 3". Both movies will likely be rated PG-13 due to subject matter, but both look great from their trailers. Another movie of note this year (and one that I'm very excited about) is the screen adaptation of "The Golden Compass" by Phillip Pullman. It is the story of a girl and her daemon (a creature that is the embodiment of her soul) and a strange conspiracy they uncover in a parallel universe that is connected to our own. It will most likely be rated PG. Also likely rated PG-13, but will be HUGE with the teen crowds, "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" and "Transformers." Anyway you look at it this year will be the year of the blockbuster! Learn more about Carey Bunker ![]() My name is Carey and I've been a WAHM (work-at-home mom) for a little over 2 years.
