Transformers (2007)

In the early 1980s, a line of toys became very popular from Hasbro – they were called Transformers. The toys also spawned their own animated series. The toys were famous for the catchphrase that they were more than meets the eye. This catchphrase sprinkled judiciously throughout the script of live action Transformers movie is very apropos. What is arguably the hottest popcorn movie of the summer has arrived and it features a character that is beloved by adults and will likely become loved by children as well: Optimus Prime. Who is Optimus Prime? According to the film, there was a … Continue reading

Bernie Mac’s Health and Mary-Kate’s Heath

Bernie Mac has been hospitalized for pneumonia, but a source, who reportedly knows Mac’s family, told the Chicago Sun-Times that the comedian is in “very, very critical condition.” Bernie Mac’s publicist, Danica Smith, calls it a “very horrible rumor,” saying that there is no truth to it at all. Mac was admitted to a Chicago hospital (his hometown) on August 1, but Smith said he was responding well and was expected to be released soon. Mac had previously been diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a chronic inflammatory disease, in his lungs, but Smith said this bout with pneumonia is not related to … Continue reading

Wall-E Off the Wall and Pleasure Island Reimagined?

In the age of reimaginations (think Get Smart, Transformers and the upcoming Star Trek) is it any surprise that Disney imagineers are re-imagining another feature of the Disney properties? The Downside of Owning a Honda

Honda owners don’t need me to tell them that their vehicles are in high demand… among car thieves. In previous blogs I shared the sad tales of my Honda owner brother’s repeat rip offs. If you own a Honda or know someone who does then you might be interested in this next true story. Police in Yakima, Washington are currently investigating a case where 11 Hondas were stolen in … Continue reading

But frankly, unless the Backyardigans or Wonder Pets show up, I think Will could careless about these awards – for now at least. But, I am sure my time is coming! Nickelodeon announced the nominees for its Oscars yesterday – the 21st annual Kids Choice Awards. Who received the most nominations? Shrek the Third received four nominations – Favorite Animated Movie and three nominations for Voice from an Animated Movie (for Michael Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz). Miley Cyrus, who seems to be … Continue reading

The Best Movie Ever

My wife and I certainly have our hands full. Between our jobs and raising five state of the art sleep interference devices, we find that we have very little time just for ourselves. As I’m sure you very well know, parenting is a 24/7 gig. Anyway, last night we had finally gotten the kids off to bed, and were enjoying a rare, quiet, adult conversation in the living room. An actual real live conversation were there were no paper dolls, Transformers, My Little Pony, or Little Einsteins mentioned at all. Suddenly, our conversation was interrupted by sleep interference device #2, … Continue reading
