Once upon a time, there was a town that didn't "get" Christmas. They had it, but they didn't understand it. They thought it was solely for the purpose of getting presents, and the television commercials didn't help any. All day long, the people were bombarded with advertisements specifically designed to make the children whine and scream for that particular toy. It was a cranky, unhappy town. Up on the hill stood a toy factory, run by Wally P. Nezzar, brother to Nebby K. Nezzar of the chocolate factory. Mr. Lunt quit his job at the chocolate factory and now works making toys. Together, the zucchini and squash plan to make a fortune this Christmas. With a television studio right in the factory, they have everything they need to promote and advertise their newest creation: Buzzsaw Louie. Every child will want to have one after they send out their commercial over the airwaves. Sure enough, soon the din of squawking children fills the air and Mr. Nezzar rubs his hands together with glee. (Well, he would if he had hands.) His worker penguins get busy on the assembly line, turning out cases of Buzzsaw Louie dolls in anticipation of the season ahead. Meanwhile, one of the dolls wakes up and looks around. He was wired differently than the other toys; while they were content to sit in their boxes, he was curious about the world outside. He was very curious why, when his nose was pushed, a little mechanical voice inside him would say things like "You need more toys." That just couldn't be the true meaning of Christmas. He sneaks out of the factory in search of answers to his questions. Along the way, he meets up with some children who assist him in his quest, and together they discover the story of a little baby who was born in a manger, who came to earth to save us all from despair. Quite frankly, I'm a bit tired of movies about people, animals and things that have to "save" Christmas. I don't think Christmas is in any danger. We're in danger, if we don't straighten up and fly right, but Christmas is here to stay. But putting that prejudice aside, I liked this movie. Vegetables can help me appreciate a show like almost nothing else. Our "Silly Song with Larry" shows Larry getting ready for Santa. He has placed three cookies on a plate in preparation for his round visitor, but when different persons show up at his door, he is willing to share, even when those persons include a tax collector and a bank robber. Put this video down on your list of must have vegetable-based entertainment.
