The Country Bears (2002)

I’m delighted to say that my long search for a good children’s movie (after a long drought) has come to an end. I watched “The Country Bears” with my kids this afternoon, and we all loved it. Beary Barrington (voiced by Haley Joel Osment) has always felt a little out of place in his family. Could it be because they’re all humans and he’s a bear? His parents try to tell him he’s not adopted, but he knows something just doesn’t feel right. His brother Dex finally tells him that he was found abandoned in the woods and that the … Continue reading

Brother Bear 2

“Brother Bear 2” is an extension of “Brother Bear”. As the viewers of “Brother Bear” know, Kenai was turned from a person into a bear during this first movie. “Brother Bear 2” begins with Kenai, still a bear, and his brother Koda, also a bear, waking up from their six months of hibernation. Kenai is happy being a bear but misses the companionship of his childhood friend Nita. Nita, who is still human, is preparing to marry a man in her village. During the ceremony the ground is spilt and the spirits signal that the marriage should not take place. … Continue reading

The Land Before Time (1988)

Probably the most classic of all Don Bluth films, “The Land Before Time” takes us back to the age of the dinosaurs, long before man roamed the earth. It’s a time of great upheaval, figuratively and literally, for a small dinosaur named Littlefoot. His mother, a wonderful, caring female, is killed while protecting him from a T-rex, and an earthquake rips his land apart, causing huge gashes in the ground which separate him from his grandparents. Other baby dinosaurs are separated from their caregivers as well, including Cera, the proud and egotistical Triceratops who will have nothing to do with … Continue reading

Pirates of the Caribbean: Fun Facts and History

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of, if not the most popular ride at Walt Disney World. Its popularity has skyrocketed with the new movies starring Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow. After “Dead Man’s Chest” came out, the ride got a bit of a face lift. The fact of the matter is that the whole “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise began as just a Disney attraction. The films related to this attraction have grossed over a billion dollars world wide. Originally, “Pirates of the Caribbean” was dreamt up (in the late 1950’s) as a wax museum, that guests would … Continue reading
