The Aristocats (1970)

One of the greatest Disney classics of all time, “The AristoCats” is the story of Duchess, a beautiful, pampered feline, and her three kittens: Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz. They live in a beautiful Paris mansion complete with a doting mistress and devoted butler. With music and art lessons, thick cream to drink before going to bed, and their every whim met, these cats are living the high life. But then one day, Madame decides to make her will, leaving everything to the cats. Her butler, Edgar, will remain to take care of the cats, and upon their death, the fortune … Continue reading

How Old Are Your Favorite Disney Films?

I have a special little cupboard where I keep all of our Walt Disney children’s classics. OK, it is a pretty big cupboard and it is loaded with both DVDs and VHS tapes. Truth be told, I started collecting Disney movies long before I ever had children. Heck, I was collecting them long before I ever met my husband! I love the Disney classics and even some of the more recent children’s movies made by Disney/Pixar and I love that my kids are enjoying them too. The funny thing about Disney movies is that I could probably tell you where … Continue reading

The Rescuers (1977)

Bernard the mouse is the janitor at the Rescue Aid Society, an organization comprised entirely of mice and dedicated to the rescuing of prisoners, wherever they may be. Representatives from all over the world join together at meetings of this group and divide the assignments between them, forming a highly effective task force. You wouldn’t think so much could be accomplished by a bunch of rodents, but then, you underestimate! Penny is a little orphan girl who has been kidnapped by a crazy woman named Medusa who is in search of a giant diamond. This diamond is down a hole … Continue reading

Fun and Fancy Free (1947)

“Fun and Fancy Free” was the 9th full length movie ever produced by Walt Disney Studios, and it is the last film in which Walt Disney himself provided the voice for Mickey Mouse. Rather than being one continuous story from beginning to end, “Fun and Fancy Free” is broken up into chunks throughout. We begin the movie with Jiminy Cricket (voiced by Cliff Edwards) receiving an invitation to come to the home of Edgar Bergen, famous ventriloquist. A few other friends have been invited as well, and he chooses to entertain his guests by telling them a few stories, with … Continue reading

Robin Hood (1973)

A pox on the phony King of England! Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men have taken over Sherwood Forest and are living lives of gaiety and adventure, robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, thwarting the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and rescuing the fair Maid Marian. There’s a twist to this tale, however – Robin Hood is a fox. No, I don’t mean that he’s good looking – I mean, he’s an actual fox, as is Maid Marian. Little John is a bear, and Friar Tuck is a badger. Each of the characters in this Disney … Continue reading
