Open Season: Let The Hunting Season Begin!by Emily Price | More from this Blogger 30 Sep 2006 01:29 AM It seems like this summer has been a big one for animal and barnyard movies with "Open Season" ushering in the same type of movies for fall. Open Season is about a bear named Boog. Unlike other bears that live in the wild; hunting for food, building or finding their own home...Boog lives in a garage. Boog finds comfort not in the outdoors, but rather in his comfortable bed and toys. Rather than an outdoor wild animal he has to some extent become the child of a park ranger named Beth. ![]() When a deer is captured by a mean hunter right before hunting season Boog decides to help the deer out of captivity. While most animals would be happy to have had their life saved and gone on their way, Elliot the deer in question decides to stick around. Elliot manages to get Boog in trouble with Beth, forcing her to send him out into the wild, unfortunately right as hunting season is about to begin. During the movie Boog struggles to find his way back to his home, and his posh lifestyle with the help of Elliot. As is the case with most movies along these lines hijinks occur, there is a mild amount of peril, but in the end the bad guys lose the good guys win and everyone's happy. If you're looking for a cute Saturday afternoon movie for your youngsters Open Season is a good pick. The film is rated PG, and while the movie does have a good deal of action and a little bit off potty humor the film remains appropriate for children in 2nd or 3rd grade and up. The animals in the film are voiced by celebrities like Martin Lawrence (Boog), Ashton Kutcher (Elliot) and Debra Messing (Beth). Open Season is playing at theaters everywhere.
