National Peach Month

August is National Peach Month. The apple orchard near my home is filled to the brim this time of year as it offers peach picking in August. It is a wonderful month to pick and eat fresh peaches. I must confess that I do not like cooked peaches. I simply like them in their truest form: raw. However, my family enjoys peaches in almost any way you can think of from pies to fruit salad. Did you know Alexander the Great brought peaches from China back to Greece? When he brought peaches back he brought a little treasure full of … Continue reading

The only way to clear his family’s name is to once again go on a treasure hunt, this time for … Continue reading

National Treasure: Still Raking in the Dough

I love Nicolas Cage in dramatic (Leaving Las Vegas), comedic (Peggy Sue Got Married), and romantic roles (Moonstruck), but I think my favorite genre for him is action/adventure. I was in the theatre to see both Con Air and The Rock and they are still two of my favorite Cage movies. Of course, when he did National Treasure, I was overjoyed! In case you missed National Treasure, it is an action/adventure flick that features Nicolas as Benjamin Gates. His family has a long history of being treasure hunters and he carries that on by hunting for treasure, supposedly hidden by … Continue reading
