Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005)

When Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) took down the bad guys and saved the pageant at the end of “Miss Congeniality,” she became something of a celebrity. Now, in “Miss Congeniality 2,” she’s trying to return to work as an FBI agent, but her face is too famous. A curious and adoring fan interrupts a sting at a bank, and she realizes that the days of being an anonymous agent are over. This isn’t such a bad thing, though – her boss comes to her with a unique proposition. She should take the celebrity status she has and use it to … Continue reading

Miss Congeniality (2000)

“Miss Congeniality” is the movie that showed me just what a great actress Sandra Bullock is. I’d always liked her, but after this film, I really, really liked her. She stars as Agent Gracie Hart, a hard-working FBI agent who doesn’t believe in the traditional mores of femininity. She dresses like a man, doesn’t take care of herself, and is seen as “one of the guys” by her fellow agents. When the FBI is called in to take down a serial bomber, they need to place an agent inside the Miss United States beauty pageant, and Gracie is the only … Continue reading

Update on Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

For the first time since rumors of her husband’s infidelities leaked, Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock has made a public appearance – well, sort of public. Bullock was seen at the home of Gabriel Brener, the head of a private investment firm. Brener is reportedly a close friend who was among the guests at Bullock’s 2005 wedding to Jesse James. While Bullock hasn’t been out much, she has had visitors. Comedian George Lopez told PEOPLE that he visited Bullock for a few minutes the day after the Kids’ Choice Awards. “She’s great. We love her. We all love her,” … Continue reading

Movies Week in Review – February 18th – 23rd

It’s been a little quiet here in Movies this week, but every movie I reviewed was a winner–you can’t go wrong with any of my selections this time around. First, I really enjoyed “The Pursuit of Happyness.” Starring Will Smith as a man who can’t seem to support his family, try though he may, you’ll be inspired by our main character’s determination and drive. He rose above his poverty-stricken life to become one of the most successful stock brokers in our nation’s history. “I Could Never Be Your Woman” stars Michelle Pfeiffer as a mature television writer who gets tangled … Continue reading

The Net (1995)

“The Net” is a suspense thriller about what can happen when you get a little too close to the Internet. Sandra Bullock stars as Angela Bennett, a computer software analyst whose life revolves around her computer. She tests software all day, her friends are people she meets in chat rooms, and she even orders her dinner, pizza, online. She doesn’t know very many “real” people, even her neighbors – her entire life is wrapped up in her computer. She’s decided to break out of her mold and take a vacation in Mexico. She’s earned it. Just before she leaves, a … Continue reading
