Quickly Becoming Obsolete – Part 1

Not too long ago, I blogged about companies that are no longer in business. But, what about things that are still currently around, but are slowly becoming obsolete in today’s society? I found a list of things on AOL that may be going away sooner than you think! Movie Rental Stores I remember when video rental first came out. It seemed like everyone opened his or her own movie rental store. Then, Blockbuster and Hollywood came along and put most of the mom and pop places out of business. Now it seems like mail order places such as Netflix will … Continue reading

Barney Colors and Shapes

My last review was of “Barney Fun and Games”. In addition to this great movie, Barney also has many other educational and fun films. “Barney Colors and Shapes” is a wonderful movie to add to your educational collections. The movie features the typical crew of Barney, Baby Bop, BJ, and the children actors. The movie takes place in the playroom and begins with Barney as a stuffed toy. He magically appears as the children play with him. As some of the children enter, it is said that one little girl is in need of help carrying her books because she … Continue reading

Barney Fun and Games

Barney has been a childhood friend for some time now. His jolly character and cuddly appearance is very inviting to children. He has been known to make both the young and old at heart smile with joy. Barney comes to life and creates a fun filled adventure for the children. He promises to show them his game machine … Continue reading

Dora the Explorer: Big Sister Dora

Dora has many different movies out as well as her cartoon. Many of her videos contribute to a child’s character or education. Of course she must check with Map to find the way home. Once her route is mapped out, she is all ready to go. Dora and Boots meet several … Continue reading

Sometimes it can be a challenge to find a movie you’ll really enjoy. Let’s take a look back at last week and see if our movie reviews will help narrow the field a little bit. We started the week out with a look at “The Magic School Bus: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs.” A blend of education and entertainment, this DVD will teach your children about bees, ants, and butterflies in a fun way. “Definitely, Maybe” is the story of a recently-divorced man who is faced with some challenging questions when his daughter learns about sex in school. She wants to know … Continue reading

Go Diego Go! Great Gorilla (2008)

“Great Gorilla” was released to DVD not long ago, and the minute my son saw the ad, he wanted it. Ah, the magic of television advertising . . . we picked it up at Blockbuster the other day and watched it as a family. While only my youngest two are in to Diego and the rest of us consider it a unique form of torture, I had to admit there were some better than expected moments. The DVD contains four episodes. The first is the one for which the DVD is named. Diego travels to Africa to attend the crowning … Continue reading
